Captain America

This image was a poster given to the crew of the movie that eventually became the cover to a movie tie-in comic. Very nice!

Super 8 Poster

I like the fact that this poster for the movie Super 8 is illustrated. I'm guessing that with this poster writer/director J.J. Abrams is trying to evoke the feel of certain 1980s films like Goonies and E.T. the Extraterrestrial; which are evoked to a certain extent with the Super 8 poster.

I just wish that the poster had been illustrated just a bit better. In the poster it appears as if Super 8 lead Joel Courtney has a bit of a droopy eye like the character Sloth did in Goonies, and actor Kyle Chandler seems to be missing a bit off the top of his head in the poster as well.

Young X-Men don't have the same box-office superpowers as their older selves.

Studio estimates Sunday pegged "X-Men: First Class" at a solid No. 1 opening with a $56 million weekend.

But the prequel chronicling the formative years of the comic-book mutants found smaller audiences than the franchise's first four big-screen adventures, which featured older versions of the X-Men.

How I'll Spend My Summer

Some of my fondest memories as a teen are of watching movies at the drive-in theater that used to be in Decatur, Indiana. I didn't go there that often, but somehow that experience of sitting out beneath the stars and taking in a movie, or alternatively huddled in a car trying to make out what was happening on-screen as a thunderstorm passed overhead, stays with me to this very day.

That drive-in's been closed for a long while now, but there's not a summer that goes by that I don't think about what it would be like to visit that place just one more time, to take in just one more double-feature covered in bug-spray.

What I've decided to do this summer is to try to recreate that drive-in experience by spending each weekend taking in a double-feature like I used to at the drive-in, only this time in the comfort of my home.
